Why did you become an attorney?

I became an attorney because I wanted to be the voice for the underserved and underprivileged. Growing up in a predominately immigrant community and family, I wanted everyone to have equal justice. Given my bicultural upbringing I saw an opportunity to bridge that gap.

What is your secret to balancing work and personal obligations?

Time management and working smart. Time is our most valuable commodity. I find with proper time management and proper planning you can balance your career and personal life.

What advice do you have for other young woman who want a career and a family?

Find what drives you and what sparks joy in your life and all the other pieces will come together.

How do you help support the other women in the firm?

I lead by example, and I am always available to provide guidance, professionally and personally. My team knows that my door is always open, and they are free to come to me with anything.

Do you have any tips for other working parents?

Get organized whether it be with a planner or phone calendar, make sure you have everyone’s schedules organized and laid out.

Coordinate carpooling with friends/neighbors for drop off/pick up with kid’s extracurricular activities.

Plan ahead — prep meals ahead of time or at least have the dinners planned and shopping all done. Plan for less complicated weeknight dinners. Meal prep for easy healthy breakfasts too.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy spending time outside and exploring new hiking trails, especially ones with beautiful vistas. I enjoy going to new restaurants and trying different types of food. Most of all, spending time with my husband, Charles and the kids.

What was the last movie you watched?

The last movie at the theatre was Top Gun Maverick.

What was the last book you read?

The Guest List.

I have an additional bonus, of being able to work with my husband, Attorney Charles K. Thompson, in serving the Waterbury community.
